About James Tauber
James Tauber has been composing since his early teens and, while still in high school in Australia, had chamber works performed in concert and on national radio. He has sung in and directed a number of choirs, including in performances of his own choral works. He has scored a short film and co-written an award-winning pop song.
As a programmer with an academic background in linguistics and mathematics, James has long been interested in computer-aided music analysis and composition as well as in music notation and encoding. He is also unsurprisingly interested in the relationship between music, linguistics, and mathematics.
James studied Music Theory and Composition at Berklee College of Music. He is a member of the Society for Music Theory and the International Society for Music Information Retrieval.
